Slow start leads to men's Basketball loss at Calvin


The men's basketball team suffered a 74-60 loss at Calvin on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The Hornets made just 6-of-30 shots in the first half to trail 27-15 at halftime. Calvin extended its lead to 32 (55-23) with 11:40 left in the second half. Kalamazoo outscored Calvin 37-19 the rest of the way to cut the final deficit to 14 points. Kalamazoo finished the game shooting 32.8 percent overall while Calvin shot 43.9 percent. The Knights held a 48-35 advantage in rebounds. Verelle Kirkwood led Kalamazoo with 14 points and four rebounds. Drew Mitchell scored seven points. Joe Prepolec added six points with five rebounds. Kalamazoo travels to Alma on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
