For those of you who thought it was a foregone conclusion that Western Michigan had no chance of winning the MAC Title even if they had beaten Ball State, you were wrong. The Eastern Michigan Eagles sent Head Coach Jeff Genyk out with a bang beating the Chippewas 56-52 behind 80 passes from Quarterback Andy Schmitt.
Schmitt fired 5 touchdowns to only 1 interception to beat the Chippewas in a shootout. The Eagles claim the Michigan MAC Trophy for the 2nd straight season and may have helped the WMU Broncos chances of getting a MAC Bowl tie-in with the win.
