The 6th ranked Michigan State Spartans fell 80-62 to unranked Maryland in Orlando at the Old Spice Classic. The Spartans were plagued by a major injury to Goran Suton headed into the game before fouls got the best of them in the game. The Terrapins entered the game 3-0 and proved they belong in the top 25 with the win.
Travis Walton led the Spartans with 16 points.
