Sports Wrap-Up for Friday May 22

Yeah! Stand up and cheer! Jackson wins his third straight start and speaking of streaks, the Tigers have beaten Texas six in a row and now have back-to-back sweeps under their belts. Detroit hosts the Rockies over your Memorial Day weekend, game one tonight at 6:45 on 590 KZO.

The Red Wings take their 2-nothing lead into Chicago tonight in the Western Conference Finals, tune in at 7:40 on your home of the Red Wings, 1660 The Fan.

A rough series for the Cubs losing all three games of a series with St. Louis with last night’s 3-1 decision. Albert Pujols hit a huge blast off the McDonald’s for his 14th homer for the Cards.
Chicago is really struggling on the road and in this last 3 game series scored only 2 runs.
Maybe things will be better in San Diego as the Cubs start a 3 game set with the Padres tonight.

The NBA playoffs continued with Denver evening things up with a 106-103 win. Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points.
There’s now a day of rest and travel with the series continuing Saturday in Denver.

In hockey the Pittsburg Penguins now have a 2 game edge as they took out Carolina 7-4 last night in Pittsburgh. The series now moves to Carolina for Saturday night’s game 3.

The bad news is Michigan football’s season last year. Yeah, that was bad. But the good news is, that sucky performance means you can finally get tickets. This year anyway. On the heels of their worst season ever, Michigan football is offering the “All In” package for the upcoming campaign. It’s a one-year deal for all the home games – including Notre Dame and Ohio State – and it’s only 400 bucks! You can be there when Michigan snaps its longest slump against the Buckeyes!

How can a football team lose two games – at the same time? Well, it could happen if Delaware State gets beat at Michigan in October. In order to schedule the trip to Ann Arbor, the Hornets had to forfeit a conference game to North Carolina A&T. Don’t feel too bad for ol’ DSU though – they’ll pick up a 550-thousand dollar paycheck for their troubles.

Memorial Day weekend, a perfect time for the Kalamazoo Kings to open up the home season. Your home team kicks it off today taking on the Traverse City Beach Bums at Homer Stryker field tonight at 7:05. You can follow the Kings all season long online at 1660 The Fan dot com and wkzo dot com.
