The Western Michigan men’s basketball team ram smack into a wall known in these parts as Akron’s home record. The Broncos on the road Saturday taking on the Zips – a fair Akron team but tough at home, boasting a 7-2 mark – and Western found out why.
Akron shot almost 56% from the floor and was 7-of-14 from beyond the arc en route to an 87-63 thrashing of the Broncos. On the defensive side of the ball the Zips had 11 steals and forced Western into 19 turnovers.
On the bright side, Bronco David Kool led all scorers with 23 and moved into a tie for tenth on the all-time Bronco career scoring list. It’s back to the drawing board for Coach Hawk and his team as they prepare for a home game against Ohio Wednesday.
