After a dismal 2008 filled with injury and blown saves Detroit Tigers closer Todd Jones announced that he will retire at the end of the season today.
Jones made the declaration in his sporting news column. Jones led the Tigers to a solid 2006 including their famed World Series trip. The man most thought would replace Jones in the future was Joel Zumaya...but his inability to remain healthy has put the Tigers in a difficult situation at closer.
