ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- With 4:22 remaining in the third period, WMU freshman Kevin Connauton took a loose puck from the blue line and wristed it past Michigan goaltender Billy Sauer to give the Broncos the 2-1 win over No. 8 Michigan in front of 6,852 fans at Yost Arena on Friday night.

Western Michigan (2-6-3, 1-3-3-1 CCHA) goaltender Riley Gill made 33 saves en route to being named the Perani No. 1 Star of the Game. Connauton picked up his first-career multi-point game to be named the No. 2 Star of the Game. The win ended a five-game losing streak against the Wolverines (7-4-0, 4-3-0-0 CCHA) and was the second win in the last three trips to Yost Arena.
