The mystique that surrounded the 2008 NHL season for the Red Wings ended Thursday in a 3-2 Toronto win in the season opener. The Maple Leafs struck first taking a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission. Down 2-0 in the 2nd Tomas Holmstrom brought the Wings within 1.
The goal was Holmstrom’s 2nd of the night but it wasn’t enough as the Wings fell 3-2 even after a power play and pulled goalie gave them a 2-man-advantage late. Up next the Red Wings look for their first win of the season when they head to Ottawa to take on the Senators Saturday at 6:40 on 1660 THE FAN.
