Finally Kalamazoo native Derek Jeter broke Lou Gehrig’s record for hits in Yankee Stadium. Jeter’s single in the 1st inning was his 1,270th of his career on the Yankee Stadium grass.
The record will now stand forever in the old stadium…of course Yankee Stadium will be torn down after the Yankees move into the 1.3-Billion-Dollar Yankee Stadium this off-season.
