In the 2nd of a 3 game series Placido Palanco homered and brought 3 runs home. Ryan Raburn chipped in 3 hits and an RBI to help Detroit to their 9th win in 12 games. The Cubs were shut out 3-0 by the Pirates in Pittsburgh. It was the 2nd of a 3 game series at PNC Park. An unhappy Lou Pinella commented on the lack of run production.

After finishing 39-43 in his first year as a head coach, Michael Curry has been fired by the Detroit Pistons, and on the eve of free agency no less. It’s not Curry’s fault Joe Dumars thrust a past-his-prime Allan Iverson on him, but that’s how these things go. Who do I want as the next Pistons head coach? Well, one-time Bad Boy and Dumars teammate Bill Laimbeer suspiciously quit the Detroit Shock recently. He’s a proven winner and a fan favorite – so it’ll probably end up being Avery Johnson or Doug Collins again.
