The Tigers took a terrible pounding from St. Louis 11-2 last night. The Cards put up 4 runs in the 1st inning and coasted to a win in the 1st of the 3 game series in St. Louis. What really did the trick was shutting down Justin Verlander. Jim Leyland said the Cardinals took rightful advantage of it.
That was Verlanders first loss since April 17th. Albert Pujols knocked the cover off his league leading 23rd homer of the year sending it nearly 450 feet. The series resumes tomorrow night.
The Inter Chicago game was literally a wash out as the Cubs and White Sox game was postponed. You can follow the Cubs on 1660 The Fan.
Former Tiger now Houston Astro Pudge Rodriguez has tied the record for most games in catchers gear as he got behind the plate for his 2,2226th game right he started as a 19 year old. Pudge has now matched Carlton Fisk who caught for Boston and the White Sox.
D.J. Powers at HockeysFuture.com has released his Top 10 NCAA prospects for the 2009 NHL Draft, naming Western Michigan's Kevin Connauton as the eighth best collegiate prospect in the draft. Connauton finished his first collegiate season tied for fifth on the team in scoring with seven goals and 11 assists and received Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Rookie Team honorable mention.
A new report shows Sammy Sosa failed a test for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, this according to the New York Times. Sosa was a member of the Steroid Cubs when he and Steroid McGwire were chasing the single-season steroid homerun record in 19-steroid-8. This could affect his chances of getting in the Hall of Steroids when he’s elgible in three steroids.
