The Pittsburgh Penguins were in a do or die situation. That’s not to say they would have lost the championship but being down 3 games to none to Detroit would be an uphill battle at best. But the Pens took the lead in the third and added an extra goal in the final minute to win game three 4-2.
The Wings came out for the third period and seemed a bit unorganized and didn’t even record a shot on goal for the first 8 minutes of the final stanza. Pavel Datsyuk was still not in the line up due to nursing the foot injury he suffered in the Chicago series. They’re off tonight with game 4 tomorrow night at Mellon Arena.
