
The women's basketball team took a lead into the second half, but eventually fell to Anderson University (Ind.) 66-51 in non-conference action on Saturday, Feb. 14. Kalamazoo led 25-19 at halftime and held a seven-point lead (30-23) three minutes into the second half. Anderson used a 7-0 run to tie the game at 30-30 with 14:30 left in the game. Following a 32-32 tie, the host Ravens used an 18-4 run to blow the game open with a 50-36 lead. Anderson led by 17 (56-39) with 5:08 left to play. Kalamazoo cut the lead to 12 (58-46), but finished with the 15-point deficit. Anderson shot 42.4 percent from the field, including 60 percent in the second half while limiting Kalamazoo to 34.7 percent. Anderon held a 40-38 edge in rebounding and had 17 turnovers to Kalamazoo's 26. Nyemade Cooper led Kalamazoo with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Andrea Bedway and Carly Zeitlin each scored nine points. Courtney Kaplan scored eight and Michelle Maiuri finished with seven. Kalamazoo returns to league play on Wednesday at Adrian.
