The Detroit Tigers and lefty Justin Verlander were only two weeks out from an arbitration hearing – instead the club has worked out a one-year, $3.675 million guidos deal. After a rough 2008 season, a short-term deal worked better for Verlander, who turns 26 this month. Don’t look now, but pitchers and catchers report a week from Friday.
