The KVCC women hoopsters demolished Ancilla College's Lady Chargers 90-48 Saturday - the win improves Valley's record to 14-3 over all and 8-1 in the MCCAA (Michigan Community College Athletic Assoc.) Western Conference (1st). Ancilla drops to 11-8 (4-4). A solid defensive effort ignited a 39-19 first half surge and a fatigued Charger team had a hard time guarding the fresh legs on the KVCC team.
Soph Ja'nee Morton led KVCC scoring and rebounding with a solid 17 point, 13 rebound effort. Jenison's Alicia Jesnek came off the bench to add 13 points and Parchment's Dee Dee Closson added 11 off the bench. The Cougar reserves outscored the Ancilla team 50-48.
"After a slow start in the first half, we just sort of got on a roll." commented Coach Welch. "Defense and shooting are both contagious and we did both well today."
The Cougars shot 49.3% for the game including a 9-17 (52.9%) effort from behind the arc.
KVCC jumps back into league action again on Wednesday, visiting Jackson at 5:30 pm.
