Denver Hires a Master of Offense

by Larry Long

The Denver Broncos are pinning their hopes on an offensive guru to get them back to the playoff team they were. Josh McDaniels who turned the New England Patriots into a scoring machine inked a four year deal reportedly worth 8 million to replace Mike Shanahan who was fired just two days after the season. Some thought the Broncos might go with a defensive background for a coach since they’re a bit weak in that department giving up 448 points this season but 32 year old McDaniels helped the Patriots win a couple super bowls in part with Tom Brady throwing for 50 touchdowns in ’07. He also helped the defensive staff for three years before moving to the offense side of the ball. McDaniels worked for Nick Saban who gave him a shot at Michigan State in 1999.
