KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Nov. 7, 2009 game between the Broncos and Michigan State originally scheduled to be played at Ford Field will now take place in Spartan Stadium on the same date and will be a road non-conference contest for WMU.
“The economic landscape was vastly different at the time the original contract for this game was drafted and now, in light of the current climate, it is in the best financial interest of all parties involved to move the venue of this game,” commented WMU Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard. “We thank Michigan State and the staff of Ford Field for the relationships we have grown and strengthened while working toward this resolution.”
Michigan State is one of three Big Ten opponents Western Michigan faces during the 2009 season (Michigan, Indiana). WMU has gone on the road to Iowa (W, 28-19) and faced Illinois (W, 23-17) in each of the last two seasons. The Broncos’ full schedule will be released later this spring.
