by Dan Cash

Michigan State held on for the the beginning of the 1st half before North Carolina's superior talent took over for a 98-63 win Wednesday night at Ford Field. The game, designed to be a showcase for the 12th ranked Spartans ended up being disaster for MSU.

The Spartans were playing without Senior leader Goran Suton who will have surgery on his ailing knee this week. He is expected to be out for the next 2 weeks. The Tar Heels on the other hand were firing on all cylinders Wednesday as pre-season All-American Tyler Hansbrough returned to the lineup scoring 23 points while pulling down 11 rebounds in the win.

The loss is the 2nd most lopsided in Tom Izzo's tenure as Head Coach at Michigan State.
