As if a 3-9 football season wasn’t bad enough Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan Wolverines may be in the beginning stage of massive player defection. The Wolverines held their annual football banquet Thursday in Livonia and several key players were absent from the banquet.
Among those was Freshman Running Back Sam McGuffie…who entered Michigan one of the top recruits at his position in the country. McGuffie lost his starting position mid-way through the season to Brandon Minor.
Rodriguez told the media before the press conference that McGuffie had been dealing with a family issue in Texas, but also mentioned that anyone not 100 percent committed to Michigan was not welcome on his football team.
McGuffie was also briefly pursued by California before re-committing to Michigan last year.
