MSU Coach Newell passes away

Former Michigan State basketball hall of fame coach Pete Newell has passed away at the age of 93. Newell died Wednesday as the first coach to take a team to the NIT, an NCAA championship and an Olympic gold medal. Newell had a 45-and-42 record in four years with the Spartans back in the 50’s. He won the 1960 Olympic gold medal and won the 1959 NCAA championship at Cal.
