In Major League Baseball the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association has named Armando Galarraga Tigers Rookie of the Year. Galarraga led American League Rookies with 13 wins in a surprise season after being traded from the Texas Rangers minor league system to the Tigers in the off-season.
Galarraga also finished the season with 126 strikeouts.
