Central Michigan needed a win against Northern Illinois to cushion themselves in the race for the MAC West Title. With only 2 games remaining against Ball State and Eastern Michigan the Chippewa’s continue to control their own destiny in the division after a 33-30 overtime win over the Huskies Wednesday.
Up 30-6 in the 3rd Quarter the Chippewa’s appeared to have the game in hand…before the Huskies mounted a comeback tying the game at 30 with under :30 seconds to play in the 4th Quarter.
In overtime Huskies Quarterback Chandler Harnish was intercepted before Andrew Aguila won it for the Chippewa’s with a 40-yard-field goal in overtime.
The win hurts the WMU Broncos chances at a MAC West Championship. A loss would have opened the Broncos chances at a MAC West lead if the Chippewas were to lose next week to Ball State.
The Broncos can still win the MAC West if they win out and Central Michigan loses to Ball State and Eastern Michigan in their season finale.
