After a meeting with Tigers President Dave Dombrowski today Tigers Manager Jim Leyland told the Mitch Albom Show on WJR that Dombrowski didn’t offer him a contract extension.
Leyland is under contract for the 2009 season and had some interesting things to say about Justin Verlander. Leyland said Pitching Coach Chuck Hernandez and Bullpen Coach Jeff Jones were fired because the pitching was terrible.
He then said that he took offense to Justin Verlander saying he was “probably” part of the problem…to which Leyland responded no, not probably, you were one of the reasons.
It’s a long way to Spring Training in March.
