Comeback Falls Short Again In Willis' Return

by Dan Cash

Another night of fighting back from a deficit ended in an 11-8 defeat Monday for the Detroit Tigers.

An 8-7 Tigers lead built on the strength of a Gary Sheffield homerun and a 2-run-single by Miguel Cabrera…slowly deteriorated in the bottom of the 8th with a Michael Young single giving the Rangers a 9-8 lead…before Marlon Byrd tripled for a final of 11-8 Rangers.

Dontrelle Willis was serviceable in his return to the Majors allowing only 3 runs on 2 hits in 5 innings in the no-decision. Tonight the Tigers and Rangers are back in action with coverage beginning at 7:45 on 590 KZO.
